This time last week I was feeling super excited about what Friday 12th February had in store.
One of my clients, Hayley Doody of Remote Associates had won an amazing opportunity and I was lucky enough that she wanted to share the experience with me. I’ll refrain from any further suspense…she had become a winner of #SBS a competition run by Theo Paphitis. I’ve included a link below with more information as to what is involved, it’s quite a straight forward but powerful concept.
Small Business Sunday, shortened to the hashtag #SBS on Twitter, was created by Theo Paphitis in October 2010. Each week, Theo rewards small businesses that tweet him @TheoPaphitis and describe their businesses in one tweet including the all-important hashtag #SBS. Only tweets made in the time slot between 5.00 PM and 7.30 PM each Sunday count.
As we arrived at Birmingham’s International Convention Centre, we really didn’t know what to expect. What was in store for us or who we would meet, but we both looked at each other with a sense of pride that we both deserved to be there (even though Hayley was/is the winner, we’ve worked closely together on many projects, so it was great to share this sense of achievement together).
It was also important to Hayley to demonstrate that she practices what she preaches, by having her own Virtual Assistant…me! I provided a great example of just how beneficial it is to your business to have support in the right places. This was even touched upon in the Q & A Session with Mr Paphitis himself accompanied by Not on the High Street’s Holly Tucker and Mike Pickles, MD of Really Useful Products.
There were some fantastic questions and thought provoking answers during the Q&A session that helped generate some sparks to my business brain and to take time to identify things that I could be doing differently.
After the session it was time for Hayley to be presented with her certificate by Mr P himself. A proud moment not only for her, but for myself as her VA, Associate and Friend!
